GOOGLE ML KIT AND DOCUMENT SCANNER NOTICE QR Decoder: Scan & PDF Tools Effective Date: October 27, 2026 Last Updated: October 27, 2026 1. KEY POINTS QR Decoder: Scan & PDF Tools (the “App”), published by Jesus Afkerian, an individual operating under the AFKERIAN INTERACTIVE brand (“AFKERIAN INTERACTIVE,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), uses Google ML Kit to scan barcodes and QR codes and to recognize text, and Google's ML Kit document scanner to scan documents. These are Google services, provided by Google LLC under Google's terms. Google states that ML Kit processes images and text on the device and does not send them, or the results, to Google servers. 2. COMPONENTS - ML Kit Barcode Scanning (with its scanning models bundled in the App): com.google.mlkit:barcode-scanning, version 17.3.0, with barcode-scanning-common 17.0.0 and play-services-mlkit-barcode-scanning 18.3.1. - ML Kit Text Recognition (Latin script, with its recognition models bundled in the App): com.google.mlkit:text-recognition, version 16.0.1, with text-recognition-bundled-common 17.0.0, play-services-mlkit-text-recognition 19.0.1 and play-services-mlkit-text-recognition-common 19.1.0. - ML Kit common libraries: com.google.mlkit:common 18.11.0, vision-common 17.3.0 and vision-interfaces 16.3.0, and com.google.android.odml:image 1.0.0-beta1. - ML Kit Document Scanner: com.google.android.gms:play-services-mlkit-document-scanner, version 16.0.0. Its scanning screens, models and camera access are delivered by Google Play services. The machine-learning model files bundled in the App and the components above are provided by Google under the ML Kit Terms of Service (https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms). 3. HOW THE APP USES THEM - Barcode and QR scanning and text recognition run on the device. The App does not turn on ML Kit's barcode auto-zoom option. - The document scanner runs inside Google Play services on the device. The App allows importing images from the gallery and sets a limit of 50 pages per scan. Google states that the document scanner flow operates on-device and that the App does not need the camera permission for it. 4. DATA Google states that ML Kit may contact Google servers to receive bug fixes, updated models and hardware accelerator compatibility information, and sends Google metrics about the performance and use of the APIs. Google lists this data as device information (manufacturer, model, operating system version and build, and available machine-learning hardware accelerators), application information (package name and app version), per-installation identifiers that are not intended to uniquely identify a user or device, performance metrics, API configuration, event types and error codes, used for diagnostics and usage analytics, encrypted in transit using HTTPS, and not transferred to third parties.
